GPs in England have been given the go-ahead to prescribe antiviral medicines at NHS expense for the prophylaxis and treatment of influenza in certain patient groups.

They remind prescribers of the groups eligible for antiviral medicines: those over 65 years of age, those in certain clinical "at-risk" groups, including pregnant women, and others who are at risk of complications if not treated.
